We have all these improvised musical adventures that we recorded at the MusicTank while tracking the songs for SoulForce.  The song "History" on that album is a few unpolished moments of these jams.  In total, we have perhaps a few hours of varied forays into bliss, then wackness, then bliss.  In the past couple months we have begun to mine this treasure chest for new material and we are super happy with what we have found.  At a few recent shows we debuted the song "Speak To Me", a vibed out psychedelic piece that uses the essence of soul and hiphop to create something we have never felt before musically.  This week, we have undertaken another song called "Once in a While", rockin soul in the K1 spirit of things.  YAH!

Last Friday we had the honor of playing 3 Clash tunes as part of the Castaways tribute fundrasier for the Waterfront trail.  We watched Tthe Mofos blow the roof off and Hubcap do the same with a nearly perfect version of London Calling.  We got our heads on straight and took the stage.  Hippie hiphoppas meet punks in paradise.  Songs played:  Know Your Rights, Armagideon Time and Revolution Rock.  It could be said that it was a turning point for Thousands of One, but then again that is hard to measure, being that I am inside the band and it usually takes a few years of distance from the supposed turning point to officially call it one.  Nevertheless, it was SOOO damn fun to tear into that music and let it come through.  The high point for us was playing a rawkus version of Know Your RIghts.  It was like a dam crashing!  Look for alternate versions of this song to pop up in future shows.
