Make sure you connect with us at all or one of the few shows coming up the first weekend of June. Very exciting: Headlining the East End Festival World Beat Stage in Rochester with our friends Sophistafunk, a return to the surging blissful madness of the Hectorites at the Stonecat Cafe and the Binghamton Big Splash with the reunited Yolk, to defend clean water from the drilling machines and chemicals of an industry bent on destroying nature in exchange for short term monetary gains...
What gives this profit driven monster the right to poison the land and water that is our children's and thier children's birthright? Your complacency. Do not let these careless plunderers sell this nightmare to us with false promises through PR campaigns on huge advertising budgets. We must use our voice, our music, our media as a weapon of massive love to wash these forces away in a flood of support, brought on by you! If we can amass enough support for the truth of this situation, no matter how the industry might paint a picture of minimal hazards and regulated actions, that even a slight chance of toxic exposure is not worth it. They are using a scaled version of the logic which brought us nuclear power, that, yes, though there is a risk of exposure to deadly situations for the local inhabitants, it is an insignificant sacrifice compared to the benefit to the nation by accessing this fuel source. This is logic without soul, without care for life, lacking love and therefore an idea derived from, what some religious people call evil. If this careless minority of human beings continue on this trajectory, unheeded by the voice of conscience, then without a doubt, our most precious resource becomes our local water and the land that holds it. This is an attack, and we must defend ourselves, our children and our land! We are one in the same with the earth, no matter what the industries have planned.
The Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival has partnered with the City of Binghamton, the Sierra Club (Atlantic Chapter), Catskill Mountain Keeper, the Riverwalk Hotel, Binghamton Regional Sustainability Coalition and NYRAD to defend New York State's water from unsafe gas drilling. We will be bringing the Dance Tent to Beautiful Recreation Park on Sunday June 5th. This event is FREE! (There is a suggestion donation of $10 to fund future water protection events)
This Event will Feature YOLK, The Sim Redmond Band, Richie Sterns and the Evil City String Band, The Burns Sisters, Thousands of One, Driftwood, Cabinet, Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth, Dutch Bucket System, and the Green Deeps. Many more to be announced! Keep checking the page for updates.
